Hi everyone, I'm Mike Wiggins

Although I sold my first paintings at the age of sixteen, my dream of attending art school was not realised.

I have had many jobs including 25 years in the airline industry. However, circumstances dramatically changed my direction in 2007 resulting in me becoming a full time artist.

Life has been a bit like riding an ‘off roader’ without any suspension, which in itself is not only challenging but full of the unexpected.

I live with my wife Jane in North Norfolk where I create artwork much of which is quite challenging to the observer.

It’s a joy to be creating an image whilst listening to music, classical, choral, heavy metal, the Stones to Pink Floyd

and the blues.

Reading history is a passion, I sometimes try to assimilate myself in the shoes of those who lived in the past. This view also informs and influences my art work. Probably, to my neighbour’s exasperation I’m learning and enjoy playing the acoustic and electric guitar.

Between us, my wife and I have five grown children and twelve grandchildren, some of whom are far flung around the world.

ART.

For me, art is a therapeutic and liberating experience.

In my work I am interested in subconscious material that is on the edge of recognition and is in many cases open to the viewer’s interpretation.

Or, in English…. I draw and paint without knowing where the work is going.

I love to explore distorted perceptions of reality. My aim is to stimulate and tempt the viewer, or the colourist, to journey deeper into the image.

My colouring book images are taken from my own artwork and photographs. I digitise the pictures and then edit them to accomplish the desired result.

I am fortunate to receive commissions working in all mediums. I produce original limited edition prints, mono prints and etchings and have successfully exhibited throughout East Anglia.
